Promo module (left sidebar) in the WebApp: what can the module do and how to set it up properly?

The tchop WebApp offers a great opportunity to promote a special topic, important news or valuable information outside the regular content stream in a very prominent place in the direct field of view of the page.

On the left side, below the navigation elements and the "Add Content" button (visible only to editors and administrators), the WebApp allows placing a teaser element with a teaser image and a headline.

After clicking on the teaser, a layer opens displaying the full content of the post. From there, users can be informed or linked to further content or features.

How to set up the WebApp promo module?

Before you can start managing the promo module content, you need to contact tchop support (support@tchop.io) to set up a special mix for the promo module. The tchop support will need to set this up for you.

Before you can start managing the promo module content, you need to contact tchop support (support@tchop.io) to set up a special mix for the promo module. The tchop support will need to set this up for you.

Once your special mix is set up, you can easily create any post format to be displayed in the promo module. It can be a custom post, such as short or long posts, or even a web URL can be used.

The promo module on the left displays the teaser of a post with teaser image, headline, source and timestamp. No teaser text (summary, subheading) is displayed. After clicking on the teaser, a layer opens in the newsfeed and users see the underlying detail view of the post, which can be either a long-form article, a short post, or a URL (e.g. for polls or registration pages) that opens in a new tab of your browser.

*Please note: The promo module will always display the content of the last published post in a mix.
So please make sure that:*.

- Mark the mix in the backend by naming it, for example, "PROMO MODULE MIX" or some wording that makes it clear that this mix is dedicated to the left module. The name of the mix is not displayed in the WebApp.
- Make sure the post you want to display in the Promo Module is at the top of the corresponding mix and has been published.

Important: Please make sure that the mix assigned to the left promo module of the WebApp is carefully edited and not deleted at any time. Once a mix is deleted, it cannot be recovered and setting it up again will cause developer work and corresponding costs.

Promo module design and customization

The design and appearance of the promo module depends on the main customization configuration of your tchop applications. Therefore, the color codes for background, source, title and timestamp are provided from there.*Note: If you want a specific design for the promo module, it can be set for:*

- background color
- Color of the source text
- Title color- Timestamp colorPlease contact support@tchop.io to discuss your custom requirements.
