Introducing: Auto Push notification

Introducing Auto Push Notifications for Published Cards

We’re thrilled to introduce auto push notifications for published cards, a powerful new feature that helps to drive user engagement. With this update, organizations can ensure their audience never misses a great piece of content by automatically sending push notifications for every published card in a mix. It’s perfect for premium content like podcasts.

Let’s explore how this feature can elevate your communication strategy.

What’s New?

Auto push notifications simplify the process of keeping users informed by automatically generating and sending push notes whenever a card is published in a mix. The good thing: you can customise and adjust the way this is used in detail.

Here’s how it works:

Toggle Control at the Mix Level:

A new " Push" (ON/OFF) toggle is available in the “Edit Mix” or "New Mix" view.

Edit mix - Auto push
Automatic Push Note Creation:

Notifications are automatically generated and sent to users at the channel level for each published card in a Mix.

Deeplinked Content:

Every push note includes a direct link to the published card, making navigation effortless for users.

Centralized Dashboard Visibility:

Push notes are visible in the Push Note tab of the Admin Dashboard and appear in the Notification screens of the App and Web App, ensuring easy access for both administrators and users.

Key Features and Customization

Content-Driven Notifications

Notifications are dynamically generated based on the content type:

Text, Image, Gallery, Video, Audio, PDF Cards: Title and Intro are sourced from the Headline and Text fields.

Article and Post Cards: Title is derived from the card’s Title field, and Intro from the Abstract field.

Thread Cards: Title is taken from the thread title; Intro uses defaults or fallbacks.

Social Cards: Intro is taken from the content text, while the Title uses defaults or fallbacks.

Fallback and Default Settings

If a card lacks a Title or Intro, you can define default values at the Mix level, ensuring that all push notes are consistent and complete.

Customizable Prefix

Add a prefix to your push notes for greater impact. Examples include:

"NEW Show: <Push Title>" If no prefix is set, the card’s title (or default title) will be used. *

Use Cases and Scenarios

Mix Permissions

Auto push is only available for standard Mixes. Read-only Mixes, where publishing is restricted, do not support this feature.

Sync Cards Across Mixes

If you copy a card from Mix A to Mix B (with Auto Push enabled), the push notification is triggered for Mix B.

Publishing Rules

Push notifications are sent only when a card is published for the first time. Republishing or reposting does not trigger additional notifications.

How to Enable Auto Push Notifications

Turn ON Auto Push:

Go to Admin dashboard
Go to "Mixes" tab
"Create New Mix" or select "Edit" in one of the existing Mixes
In the Edit Mix view, toggle the “Send push for every published card in this Mix” option to ON. ||| Auto Push can only be set for "Standard" Mixes

Set Defaults and Prefix:

Define default Title and Intro text to ensure your notifications are complete and consistent. Add an optional Prefix for personalization.

Publish and Automate:

With Auto Push enabled, simply publish cards as usual. Notifications are sent automatically, saving time and ensuring engagement.

When and why to use auto push notifications?

Push notifications are a key driver of engagement in all mobile apps. Sending them automatically helps to:

Boost engagement: Notify your audience instantly about new content, increasing interaction and retention.
Save time: Automate the notification process, freeing up your team for other priorities.
Maintain consistency: Ensure a cohesive messaging experience across all notifications.

However we want to stress that this should be handled with care, cause sending out too many pushes for non relevant content, is annoying and will let more users turn off push notifications.

Therefore we recommend to use it for content types, that don’t come in a uncontrolled frequency. It’s perfect for special formats like podcasts or other content pieces that get released let’s say every few days. It should not be used for news streams that often fire out content pieces over the day.

Also remember, that it’s easy to keep an eye on push open rates on the analytics dashboard. This helps to understand if pushes are used and if they convert.
